MEET THE ARTIST

Art has always been a part of my life. Growing up with parents in community theater, the stage became my playground. I learned how to read and speak by reading plays and reciting lines with the actors. My father, a painter, could take an image either from a picture or in his mind and create wonders with a paint brush. My mother could make anything out of material.  Our house was a museum of fine art.  As a child, I watched with wonder at my parents.

My parents owned a printing business and I grew up around the machines and technology. My family bought our first computer when I was just 12 years old.  We were one of the first families to have a home computer. As a result, I have always been comfortable around computers.  I enjoy taking thoughts and concepts and creating a reality through graphic design. My first attempts at graphic design began in college where I designed and developed logos and other art work for various college organizations. My art work helped finance the pursuit of my degree in financial planning degree at the University of South Florida.  For seven years I worked as a financial planner until my father passed away in 2001.  I sold my practice to help run the family printing company. My thoughts of creativity soon took flight. Suddenly, my creative side came forth and opened my eyes to a new world. I quickly developed skills of design and prospective.

Art and computers have always been a part of my life. In 2003, I picked up my first digital camera, and suddenly began looking at the world a little different. I realized that although I did not  have my father’s ability to paint; his sense of light, texture and color were inside of me.  I look at things with a unique view.  By focusing on angles and light I am able to make ordinary objects become extraordinary. I look at the world and I can’t wait to see what is around the next turn and what nature has to offer. My photos are produced on either photographic paper, watercolor paper or canvas. I take care to select the appropriate frame and matting to create the intended effect.  I am a member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals, The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts, and the South Tampa Chamber. I have won several awards for my artwork including first place in the Largo Arts Festival, Lutz Women Arts Festival and several honorable mentions from Tampa Realistic Artist.
